Containers you can count on, and service you can trust. TITAN Containers is an F-Gas Certified business, meaning all our ArcticStore technicians have the necessary knowledge and skills to safely work with fluorinated gases. You can rest easy knowing that all the staff responsible for servicing your refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump equipment are fully trained and certified to do so.
WHAT’S F-GAS AND WHY DOES IT REQUIRE CERTIFICATION?
F-Gas is short for fluorinated gas, which is a type of synthetic gas manufactured to be used in place of ozone-depleting gases. It’s not a single gas, but a group of gases that include hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons, sulfur hexafluoride, and nitrogen trifluoride.
F-Gases are used in most refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump equipment — including our ArticStore Containers. They became increasingly popular following the Montreal Protocol of 1987 — which phased out the use of ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs).
While F-Gases don’t affect the ozone layer in the same way that CFCs and HCFCs do, they do contribute to the greenhouse effect. Essentially, if mishandled, these F-Gases are released into the atmosphere and trap too much of the Sun’s heat. Alongside this, F-Gases also pose a threat to living things — such as humans, animals, and plants — near where they’re being operated.
It’s for this reason that the UK Government, and much of Europe, require any technicians or companies who work with F-Gases to undergo training on how to effectively handle and dispose of F-Gas materials.
WHAT DOES OUR F-GAS CERTIFICATE MEAN FOR CUSTOMERS?
Our F-Gas certification means that customers can confidently rely on the TITAN team to provide safe support and maintenance on TITAN containers that operate using these gases.
Our F-Gas certification shows we’ve developed a documented and thorough process for handling F-Gas leakages and other safety concerns. In order to obtain the certificate, TITAN technicians have demonstrated their knowledge of:
- The causes of climate changes, ozone-layer depletion, and global warming
- How to install and maintain f-gas equipment in dynamic and stationary settings
- How to test for and deal with leaks (including handling evacuation, if necessary)
- How to work with and test pressurised piping
- How to safely dispose of f-gas materials
Companies with F-Gas certificates, including TITAN Containers, are regularly audited to ensure standards are continually met. We’re required to keep a record of all staff who are responsible for servicing TITAN products, along with servicing details for those products.
