


Maintaining specialty chemicals at +45°C for marine fuel operations

A specialist chemical supplier serving vessels that transport fuel needed a reliable way to keep a chemical additive at a controlled temperature before it was transferred into ships’ cargo systems.
The solution needed to maintain the product at +45°C while providing the flexibility and reliability required for recurring marine operations.
The challenge
The chemical additive solidifies at around +10°C, so it needs to be heated to +45°C before use.
Once added to crude oil, the additive lowers the oil’s pour point, helping keep it fluid and easier to transport rather than allowing it to thicken or solidify inside the vessel.
This created a requirement for reliable, temperature-controlled storage that could:
- Maintain the additive at the required +45°C
- Keep the product ready for transfer when needed
- Support efficient loading into vessels
- Provide a flexible alternative to permanent heated storage infrastructure
Without a suitable temperature-controlled solution, the customer would have needed to consider alternative heated storage arrangements for a recurring operational requirement.
The solution
The customer implemented a 20ft ArcticStore configured to maintain the required +45°C temperature.
The unit provided a controlled environment for the additive while also supporting the loading process. A loading ramp was an important requirement for the operation, and the ArcticStore’s integrated ramp provided the necessary access for handling the product.
The customer selected TITAN based on the equipment’s certifications, responsiveness, competitive pricing and strong communication throughout the project.
The result
The ArcticStore provides reliable temperature-controlled storage that keeps the chemical additive ready for use in marine fuel operations.
The project has become a recurring annual application, with the rental period increasing from approximately three months initially to six to seven months today as the customer’s requirements have grown.

This project demonstrates how flexible temperature-controlled infrastructure can support specialised chemical and marine operations, helping customers maintain product performance and operational efficiency without investing in permanent infrastructure.
